Northern Areas Tour

Driving up north is nothing like driving in the city. There are sharp turns, rough unpaved patches near Skardu, Hunza, Chitral, and Kalam, and high altitude that can catch people off guard if they’re not used to it. Whether you’re headed to Naran, Kaghan, Swat, Gilgit, or further up toward Fairy Meadows and Deosai, this is one trip where the driver matters just as much as the car. Our drivers do these routes regularly, so they know which parts need daylight, where fuel stops are hard to find, and which roads close during certain seasons.

If you’re planning a northern areas tour, BNB Motors arranges the car, the driver, and the route, so you don’t have to figure out the logistics yourself. This works whether you want a longer trip covering several destinations, or just a short northern areas trip to one place like Naran or Murree. If you want a full pakistan northern areas tour package, we also offer everything planned in advance, covering the vehicle, driver, and route together.

A few things worth knowing before your trip

  • Timing matters. Hunza and Skardu are easiest to reach from late spring through early autumn. Naran and Kaghan follow a similar pattern, and the Babusar Top route usually closes in winter because of snow. If you’re travelling outside these months, just let us know when you book so we can tell you what to expect on the road.
  • Your route decides where you’ll stop overnight. To reach Hunza or Gilgit, you can go through Naran and Babusar Top, which only opens in certain seasons, or take the Karakoram Highway through Besham, which stays open all year. Either way, the drive from Islamabad to Hunza usually takes about 2 days, so most trips include an overnight stop at Naran or Besham.
  • Multi-day trips need a car that stays with you, not one that just drops you off. If your trip includes an overnight stop, the same car and driver stay with you the whole way, not just for one leg of the journey.
  • The size of your group decides the vehicle, not just comfort. A Hiace or a Coaster isn’t only about having more space. On narrow mountain roads, it’s often the safer and more practical choice compared to a large SUV.
  • Bring a valid CNIC or passport. You’ll need ID at checkposts along the way to Gilgit-Baltistan, especially closer to Khunjerab and the Gilgit-Baltistan region.
  • Fuel, tolls, and inclusions. These are confirmed with you directly when you book, so your quote is clear before you travel.
  • Northern Areas Tour Rates, Per Person. The rate depends on where you want to go, since each destination has a different distance and trip length. It also depends on how many people are travelling with you. Just call or WhatsApp us with your destination and group size, and we’ll confirm the exact price for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the driver stay with us for the whole multi-day trip, or just drop us off?

The same driver and vehicle stay with you throughout a multi-day.

What's the best time of year for Hunza or Skardu?

The best time to visit is April to October. Late March to mid-April is blossom season, June to August is best for trekking, and September to October brings the autumn colours. November to February is winter, roads are much harder to travel and colder, so we'd advise against it unless you're specifically after a winter trip.

Are permits needed for any of these routes, and do you arrange them?

We don't arrange permits by default, so if your destination needs one, that's something you'll need to sort out yourself. But if you'd like, we can arrange it for you, or anything else about your trip, just talk to us and we'll customize it however you want.

Is fuel included in the quoted price?

Fuel is on you. Every vehicle comes with a full tank, and you'll need to return it full as well. If you don't want to worry about fuel yourself, just tell us, and we can set up a different rate where fuel is already included in the package.

How long does it take to reach Hunza or Skardu from Islamabad by road?

Around 2 days each way for Hunza, typically with an overnight stop at Naran or Besham depending on the route. Skardu adds further driving time beyond Gilgit.

Do I need any documents for checkposts along the way?

Yes, a valid CNIC or passport is required at checkposts along the route into Gilgit-Baltistan.

Are hotel stays and meals included, or just the car and driver?

Yes, your package includes the car, driver, hotel stays, and meals by default, so you don't have to arrange anything separately. If you'd rather arrange your own hotels or meals instead, that's completely fine too, just let us know and we'll adjust the package accordingly.
